Since March 2024, you can experience the Texelgruppe / Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park in a completely new way.

Water is the element that characterizes the Texel Group Nature Park like no other. It is therefore no coincidence that the permanent exhibition in the new visitor centre in Naturns/Naturno is dedicated to water. With the motto "Towards the water", the journey takes visitors through the impressive, snail-shaped building from the valley floor to the eternal ice of the glaciers and into the heart of a mudslide - and through the various altitude levels of the Texel Group Nature Park.

Adults and children can discover the complex interrelationships in nature in a playful, varied and hands-on way. At each station of the new 600 square meter permanent exhibition, visitors can lend a hand and work their way through all habitats: from mediterranean to high alpine, from dust-dry to precipitation-rich, from scorching heat to freezing cold.

How do children see animals? The answer awaits you in the permanent exhibition. Here, some inhabitants of the nature park are recreated in 3D—just as children imagine them. (archive Amt für Natur / Ufficio Natura. Photo Oliver Oppitz)

The animals and plants found in the different habitats are presented like a cabinet of curiosities. And there are also special stations dedicated to the irrigation channels and alpine pastures, farms and meadows. The geology of the nature park with its different rock formations and wealth of minerals is also fascinating.

The visitor centre itself is a building with clear lines. And because light is a special feature of the nature park alongside water, large windows provide sunlight in the spacious rooms - and an open view to the Sonnenberg/Monte Sole and the newly created park next to the house. It features plenty of greenery and water basins as a link to the exhibition theme and is named after the renowned butterfly collector and researcher Bernardin Astfäller, who himself came from Naturns/Naturno.
